FAQ

What are the benefits of using plastic food packaging?

Compared to other materials, plastic continues to be one of the most reliable options for food packaging. Plastic packaging is more robust, produces less carbon emission, and is effective in extending shelf life as it keeps food stay fresh longer. Also, plastic is one of the most economical materials available, which enables our clients to give their products a competitive edge.

What are the types of plastic commonly used in food packaging?

There are several types of plastic that are suitable for food packaging. Typically, manufacturers utilise easily recyclable plastics, namely:

  • Polyethene terephthalate (PET)
  • High-density / Low-Density polyethene (HDPE / LDPE )
  • Polypropylene (PP)

What type of plastic is used for Combi-Pack’s food packaging?

As a trusted food packaging supplier in Singapore, we endeavour to be an environmentally responsible manufacturer by developing 100% recyclable packaging.

Our packaging is made from Polypropylene (PP) and Polyethene (PE). Designed with convenience in mind, our products require little to no segregation, making recycling a breeze for end consumers.

Meanwhile, Combi-Pack’s In-Mould Labelling (IML)  technology is a decorative solution that uses mono-material packaging. Feel free to learn more about our sustainable business practices .

What are the advantages of plastic food packaging?

Plastic packaging is extremely durable and sealable, which helps prevent food from deteriorating. This maximises shelf life and minimises food wastage as food stays fresher for a longer period.

Furthermore, the lightweight material allows factories to store and transport more products with less fuel and energy, significantly reducing environmental impact. With modern technology, we can “repurpose” used plastic into providing new life through chemical or mechanical recycling, also known as Circular Economy.

What are the right steps to recycle plastic food packaging?

Here are some tips on how to recycle your plastic food packaging:

  1. Rinse out food or liquids from the packaging.

Ensure that the packaging is completely clean before disposing it in a recycling bin.

  1. Remove any wrappings or labels from the packaging.

Check for stickers and other decorative forms that can cause contamination in the recycler’s pipeline. To combat this, we provide IML, a fully recyclable packaging that optimises recycling.

  1. Check for a “crush to conserve” label when recycling plastic bottles.

If the label exists, crush the bottle by removing the lid, twisting the bottle from the top, and pressing it down. Next, place the lid back onto the bottle and disposing it in a recycling bin.
